WHAT WE DO
Cultural policy & strategic planning
We develop cultural strategies for government bodies and councils, design public art and venue policy, and undertake sector-wide research and economic contribution analysis. We have led major strategy processes for the City of Hobart, City of Glenorchy, and Creative Tasmania, as well as feasibility and policy work for state government departments.
This work is grounded in genuine consultation — with communities, practitioners, and institutions — rather than pro-forma process. We present findings honestly, including when they are uncomfortable.
Research & economic analysis
We undertake original research and economic analysis including industry data analysis, economic contribution modelling, benchmarking, and ROI and impact assessment. Current work for Creative Tasmania involves developing a new methodology for quantifying the economic contribution of arts and culture to the Tasmanian economy — replacing the existing framework used in Tasmanian budget papers.
Business case & feasibility
We develop operational and financial models for arts facilities, assess viability and future use options, and support funding program design and compliance. Recent business case work includes the $20 million redevelopment of the Burnie Arts and Civic Centre, the future use of the Stanley Burbury Theatre at UTAS, and accommodation feasibility for Terrapin Puppet Theatre.
Events & program development
We assess, review, and develop major festivals and events — including governance structures, growth strategy, sustainability modelling, and audience development planning. Clients have included Events Tasmania, the City of Glenorchy, and a range of regional Tasmanian events seeking to grow interstate and intrastate visitation.
Grants program design & management
We design, assess, and review grants programs across arts, events, communities, and heritage — including acquittal analysis, compliance review, and policy alignment. We have designed and managed grants programs for Events Tasmania, the City of Hobart, and Carclew Arts in South Australia, and have reviewed federal COVID-recovery funding distribution across sixteen Tasmanian events.
